Biathlon is a small sport in Australia, having started here in the 1970s. At that time, the sport of biathlon internationally was part of Modern Pentathlon (now UIPM).
The first official event in Australia was the Southern Aurora Cup in 1977. Events are all held at Whiskey Flat, Mt Hotham, the only accredited biathlon range in Australia.
There have been seven Australian representations at Winter Olympic Games.
