This morning the second in the current summer laser biathlon series was held at METEC in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, and it was another success. The event was organised by retired World Cup athlete Michael Lillycrapp, with assistance from coaches Barry Field, Paul Connor and Toscha Stopar.
Biathletes aged from 11 to 50s took part in a Mass Start, Super Sprint Relay and Individual Time Trial, with even more athletes taking part in this second event compared with the February races. It was fun for all participants, who included first timers, current international athletes and Masters athletes. In total, there were nearly forty people rollerskiing, Skiking, scootering, running, officiating/cheering on.
The third event in this First series is on Sunday 30 March, with a Second series planned for May to June. A great way to warm up for the winter!
