Australian Biathlon was well represented again this year, at the annual City of Melbourne 50 metre prone rifle shoot held yesterday.
Two Junior Teams and one Senior Team took aim at the electronic range at Melbourne International Shooting Club, at Fishermans Bend:
“Papa in the House” comprised Jethro Mahon, Jeremy Flanagan and Harry Jacobs, with “Red Man Pete” members being Tim Flanagan, Gabby Mahon and Christine Mahon.
In the Seniors (over 21) team, former Swedish National Team member Henrik Forsberg joined Frank di Martino and John Mahon to make up the third biathlon group, “360 Collateral no scope”.
All teams participating did so under Target Rifle Victoria rules.
That meant that the 60 shots at target had to be done as “single shot”, ie without the use of the usual five shot biathlon magazine.
The final placings for biathlon were:
3rd: Junior Team “Biathlon A” (Papa in the House) Jeremy Flanagan, Harry Jacobs, Jethro Mahon
4th: Senior Team “Biathlon C” (360 Collateral no scope) Henrik Forsberg, Frank di Martino, John Mahon
8th: Junior Team “Biathlon B” (Red Man Pete) Tim Flanagan, Gabby Mahon, Christian Mahon
The best biathlete of the day was former Swedish National Team Member Henrik Forsberg, whose final result was 599.9855, despite not having shot for two years and shooting left handed with a right handed rifle.
Many thanks to Melbourne International Shooting Club for hosting, and for providing a bbq afterwards.
