This year’s Easter working bee had the best turn out of members in many years; over 49 members – plus a number of friends – came to help over the four days of the Easter long weekend. Thankfully the weather was kind to us, and much was able to be achieved.
Tasks undertaken included:
- Excavation and installation of the new concrete drop off at the firing point
- Drainage works at firing point
- Painting and repair of rifle racks
- Installation of a new hut heater, kindly donated by Paul and Toscha
- Repair to hut window
- Repairs/insulation of hut wall
- Hut roof repairs
- Reshelving and organising contents of the hut office and general hut tidy up
- Trail clearing and wood cutting
- Building of a new mat-transport sled
- Removal and refurbishment of targets
- Widening of lanes to IBU standards
- Reinstallation of targets at new lane width
- Weed removal
- Painting of entire target infrastructure
- Installation of new leadcatchers (pre-fabricated by Wal)
- Installation of new Hotham sign above target infrastructure (prefabricated by Wal)
There is still much work to do. This is the first part of the Range Redevelopment 2016-2017, together with rollerski track. Planning preparations are underway to allow major earthworks to be performed next summer.
