How do you deal with stress load and performances, illness and injuries? What are some factors in athlete selection and performance in biathlon? What are the main stages in anti-doping Result Management Process?
These are the questions raised at the IBU Team Physician Seminar today, organized and prepared by IBU Medical Committee. 25 team physicians, medical staff and coaches representing 14 nations took advantage of a competition-free day to attend the seminar during BMW IBU World Cup 1 in Östersund.
IBU Medical Committee Chair Dr. James Carrabre along with Committee members Anna Maria Malagoni, Jane Fitzpatrick, Fabio Manfredini and IBU Anti-Doping Administrator Lucie Rothauer organized and led discussions at the seminar.
Injury Surveillance & Stress Management
Dr. Fitzpatrick introduced injury surveillance project to the participants, unveiling results of scientific research in injuries and illnesses at important events. She presented the plans to employ the IOC injury and illness surveillance system during the 2017-2018 Olympic season. Additionally, Dr. Manfredini talked about managing stress for top level sports, research study and relationship between stress and sleep.
