Coming up: Wodonga Mtn Bike Summer Biathlon Series 2015-16, Event 1

This coming Saturday 31 October will see the first of the Wodonga Mountain Bike Summer Biathlon Series for 2015/16.

It will be a laser biathlon session at Victory Lutheran College, Drages Road Wodonga, VIC. The fun starts at 9:00 am, those aged under 12 are especially welcome!

Come and experience the winter Olympic sport of Biathlon, that combines cross country skiing with small bore rifle shooting!

In this summer version, we replace the cross country skiing with mountain biking.

Bring your mountain bike, helmet, water, food and sunscreen.

Cost: $5.00 for this laser-only event

Mountain bike biathlon | NE Vic Schools Summer Biathlon Relay Championships!

In the starters hands

On Saturday, participants enjoyed the Autumn sunshine for the latest Wodonga Region biathlon event, the NE Vic Schools Summer Biathlon Relay Championships. Boys and girls came from schools in New South Wales as well as Victoria.

Laser shooters first leg of relay

Once again, this popular mountain bike biathlon event took place at the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) Range at Klinges Road, Wodonga.

Biathlon events were a “co-production” by Australian Biathlon and Telemark Nordic Ski Club.

Zeroing on the .22 range

Primary and Secondary School Teams of two had great fun, with participants taking part in two age groups; those under 12 who did laser biathlon using the Larsen Laser Training System, and those over 12, who used regular .22 rifles.

There was a 50/50 split between boys and girls.

Winner of the Snow Trek and Travel Perpetual Trophy for Champion Primary School was Victory Lutheran College.

Sprint to Finish!

At the end of the day, everyone went home after a great experience, fired up for this year’s North East Victoria Interschools Competition on 3rd of June. We expect 90-100 participants for that event. In recent weeks, 50 plus athletes have been taking part in after school biathlon training on Wednesdays at SSAA, in the lead up to these NE Vic events.

The next Wodonga Mountain Bike Biathlon event is coming up on Saturday 16th of May, 9:00 am-1:00 pm!

Format: Relays, maybe the best biathlon fun of all!

Where: SSAA Range, Klinges Road, Wodonga West – both laser (for Under 12) and regular .22 biathlon (Over 12)

Cost: $5 for laser events (Under 12), $10 for .22 calibre events for Juniors, $20 for Seniors

What to bring: Mountain bike and helmet, plus water, snacks, insect repellant, sunscreen
